Roche U16s welcomed St Feichins to Pairc de Roiste on a cold but dry Thursday evening for the quarter final of the U16 league. A few late withdrawals from the home side resulted in a few positional switches and introductions but both teams were eager to go at throw in time.

The visitors were definitely out of the blocks quicker and some quick handling led to well worked goal. The Feichins really took advantage of the breeze at their backs to surge further ahead by the first water break. Although they were playing second fiddle to the Termonfeckin men, Roche did conjure up the score of the game. A quick kickout from stand-in keeper Ciaran Levins, found James Corcoran who in turn worked it to captain Matthew McArdle. He found Ryan Martin at pace and this allowed DD Reilly to foray into opposition defence and stick the ball in the corner of the net. The Roche lads still trailed by 6 points at half time and knew they needed a big second half. They certainly didn't let the sizeable home crowd down as a ferocious third quarter saw them cut the gap to only a point.

Unfortunately, the water break came at the wrong time and the Feichins regrouped and tagged on a few points to win by 4.

A lot of the St Feichins U16 panel have been involved in their minor team team which had such a great run in the Minor Championship only to be pipped by the Mid Louth amalgamation in the replay. Playing/training at this intensity undoubtedly gave the Fecihins an edge and probably accounted for their fast start and although they were deserving winners, the Roche lads never gave up.

Final Score: Roche Emmets 1-7 St Feichins 1-11.

The management would like to thank all the players and their parents for their hard work and dedication during the U16/U17 season.
