Clan na Gael 4-4 Roche Emmets 2-14

The U16 girls got their first championship victory of the campaign at Páirc Clan na Gael on Wednesday night.

In fielding a team with a higher age average than has been the case, manager Eddie Briscoe was effectively able to use his younger players at various stages of the game, particularly the U14s.

Indeed, Zoe Treacy and Erin Gorham both registered having come in off the line, the latter maintaining her incredible goalscoring streak.

The players down the spine of the team were hugely influential on the night as midfielders Hannah McArdle and Naoise McGeeney got on the scoresheet, as did prolific centre-forward Lauren Briscoe, who enhanced her budding reputation by adding 1-6.

Roche led by three points at half-time and despite Clans finding the net on four occasions, were more than deserving four-point victors.

Roche: Martina Kirk; Claire McCourt, Mollie Kirk, Eimear Traynor; Nicole Murray, Rachel McKay, Erin Hogan Curtis; Hannah McArdle (0-1), Naoise McGeeney (0-2); Áine McEneaney, Lauren Briscoe (1-6), Megan Roe; Cliodhna O’Hare, Ava Briscoe (0-2), Aimee Dunne

Subs: Ffion Dolan, Sophie Corcoran, Zoe Treacy (0-1), Erin Gorham (1-2), Evanna Corcoran, Erin Roe, Aoife McKee, Kayleigh O’Hare
