Congratulations is in order for our U14 player Niamh Norton on her selection for the FAI's Girls National Academy.

A skilful, powerful player with a rasping shot and football brain, Niamh - who stars for Quay Celtic in both male and female codes, as well as lining out for various development squad panels in both Dublin and Dundalk - has long been earmarked as a future star and this latest recognition is her highest honour to date.

Not that she forgets about Roche, having featured for the U14s in several of their recent victories, scoring heavily from either a midfield or forward position.

Younger brother Ronan is a key part of the U9 and U10 panels, while parents Noddy and Aileen are over the U13 boys' and U14 girls' teams respectively.

Let's hope we see Niamh in the green of Ireland one day - and the blue of Roche for many years to come!
