Congratulations to Cian Gorham on becoming national 800m champion in Tullamore yesterday.

Cian, who played juvenile football with Roche before concentrating his focus on athletics, has been steadily building to this point and must be commended on an outstanding achievement in what is a hugely competitive middle-distance grade.

Of course, his sister, Erin, has been pulling up plenty of trees on the football field recently, scoring back-to-back hat-tricks for the U14 team, while also lining out impressively two years above, at U16.

Let's hope Niall hasn't forgotten to clear the mantlepiece!
