Roche Emmets vs Glyde Rangers/Westerns
The U14 girls saw their home fixture against Glyde/Westerns abandoned at half-time tonight after the visitors refused to agree to a 15-a-side contest.
Glyde/Westerns were in front at the break following a first half which saw 13 players fielded by each team after the mid-Louth clubs arrived claiming they had just 14 players.
Despite penning the names of 16 girls on the team sheet they submitted and clearly having at least three subs on the sideline, they rejected Roche’s request to play the maximum complement in what were searingly warm conditions.
Referee Paul Finnegan was left with no option but to abandon the game with some of Roche’s panel of 20 players not getting any pitch-time – all of the players were hugely disappointed by the outcome.
Roche: Martina Kirk; Ffion Dolan, Erin Roe, Rhiannon Dolan; Aoibheann Reilly, Nicole Murray; Ava Briscoe, Kayleigh O’Hare; Evanna Corcoran, Sophie Corcoran; Zoe Treacy (1-0), Erin Gorham (1-0), Erin Grier
Subs: Molly O’Callaghan, Ceola Keenan, Cara McCourt, Amy McKee, Caoimhe Dunne
Referee: Paul Finnegan
