Roche Emmets 1-15 Geraldines 2-9

The junior ladies’ team had a fine win over Geraldines in round two of Division 3B on Friday night, holding off a fightback from the visitors to record their first victory of the campaign.

Helped by Kate Burns’ goal, Roche led 1-7 to 0-3 at half-time having played into the Dundalk end, though the team was dealt a blow shortly before the interval when influential full-back Katie Halligan (pictured) went down awkwardly and had to be helped off the pitch.

The injury, it is hoped, is not too serious and she is wished a speedy recovery.

With the introduction of a further four subs in the second half, Emmets maintained their scoring rate, converting another eight times with young Lauren Briscoe scoring three fine points having come in.

Erinn Dooley and Caroline O’Neill, who combined as a duo in the full-forward line, shared eight of their side’s registers in an impressive display, while the midfield pairing of Rebecca Callan and Sarah McArdle showed endless energy levels in driving the Roche cause.

All told, it was a very pleasing outing with the experienced core of the side dovetailing nicely with several of the club’s underage players in flank positions.
