The junior men scored an impressive victory away to Naomh Fionnbarra on Tuesday night, sending them to the top of their Division Five league section.

Facing into a strong breeze and up the hill in the first half, Emmets trailed at the first waterbreak despite a diligent effort in difficult conditions.

The loss of influential left-half Adam McKay to a black card was key to the Barrs building a head of steam, but once back to a full complement, Roche turned the deficit around with goals from John McGrane and Robert Mackin – Dáire Reilly, James McArdle and Mikey McCourt playing crucial parts in the build-up play.

Ahead by four points at the halfway mark, substitute Fintan Watters (pictured) displayed his poacher’s instinct by bagging himself a second half hat-trick, always seeming to find himself in the right place as the ball dropped.

The home side were back to within five points prior to the teenager’s scoring spree and once in their rhythm again, Roche pressed home their advantage to make it two Emmets wins in Togher in eight days.
