A final quarter surge saw Roche begin their Division One effort with a win away to Stabannon on Sunday morning.
Gerry Curran’s team were without their county trio – Seona Halligan, Aoife Halligan and Louise Byrne – but had young star Abi Keenan in inspired form, the teenager striking 3-4 to seal an opening round triumph.
The first half was a tight contest, though Parnells came from behind to go in front during the third quarter following two goals.
However, having regrouped at the second water break, Roche summoned a fine response as Keenan hit a 2-1 salvo to earn the team victory on their top-flight return.
Newtown Blues are next up for Emmets, in Roche next Sunday.
