With the imminent return to play and subsequently, the return of Gaelic Games across the County in the coming weeks. I'm making a plea to every club in the County to make a conscience effort to recruit referees within their clubs.
At present we only have small number of referees covering all out juvenile and adult fixtures, some who cover our sister organisations fixtures also. Those referees are representing some 22 Louth clubs, which means that 18 clubs in the county don't provide any assistance to the officiating of any of our games, at any level outside of Go Games.
If this were to continue, Louth GAA will face a huge challenge in the coming years to be able to fulfil our games programmes at all levels and codes. We must act fast, and we must act now!!
I'm asking ALL clubs to get behind a new referee recruitment drive in the county.
If your club hasn't got a registered referee, you need to get one.
If your club can recruit more referees, please do so
Encourage players past and present, parents or anyone that shows an interest in the game to put their name forward
Being a referee is a great way to maintain an active lifestyle whilst still contributing to our association
WITHOUT REFEREES - WE HAVE NO GAMES - IT'S THAT SIMPLE
All new Referees will receive their Referee Jersey, Socks, Shorts and Kit Bag upon successfully completing the relevant Referee training and being added the Louth GAA Referee panel.
